Certification Consultant for maritime products
Do you understand maritime certification rules and regulations? We are looking for a new Certification Consultant who can help us bring a new family of maritime products through to type approval.
We are on a mission!
EMRI has just received approval from our mother company Furuno for a four-year investment plan. It will require us to almost double the number of employees and build a completely new maritime product portfolio designed for autonomous ships.
There is a catch, though. Take a look at our website www.emri.dk. It looks like it was developed in the 1990’s. Or drive past our current offices at Marielundvej 37 in Herlev. It is literally ready to be demolished (I kid you not – it will be torn down in a couple of years to make room for a new housing area).
That shows the other side of the coin. We will need to completely reinvent the company and everything we do.
It is an opportunity of a lifetime to really make a difference. Both in shaping a new organization, but also in participating in creating some exciting new products that will literally steer the maritime industry and contribute to reducing the energy consumption in maritime transportation.
The role
This is a key role working across the organization with R&D, product management and sales.
You will make sure that we maintain a complete understanding of the relevant rules and regulations impacting both our new and legacy products.
Your tasks will include:
- Build and maintain overview of relevant regulations and certifications (eg. MED, IMO, ISO).
- Map and analyze the overall need for certifications.
- Educate management and relevant internal stakeholders on regulatory requirements.
- Work with R&D and product management to understand how the regulations impact product design.
- Consult on which tests and certifications each individual product need to comply with and which tests to apply.
- Maintain relationships to external testing partners.
- Act as a project manager for testing activities with external partners.
- Implementation of IT-based compliance overview.
About you
You love to dive into the depth of regulatory documents to understand every little nuance of the impact they will have on our business.
But despite being a bit of a nerd in this, you are also a person that enjoys sharing your knowledge, who have the ability to communicate your insights in simple and relevant ways.
You are able to translate the regulatory frameworks into actionable requirements and actions for each individual product. But you also have the overall picture that allows you to guide management in making the right strategic product decisions.
We expect that you:
- Hold at least bachelors degree in a relevant topic.
- Have experience working with within legislative frameworks
- Have skills and experience related to certification procedures and documentation.
- Have experience with documentation work.
- Are curious, happy to learn, and above all have a systematic and analytical mind.
- Are a team player with excellent cooperative skills.
- Are self-reliant with the ability to "run with the ball" towards the goal.
- Have a basic technical understanding.
- Are quick in analyzing the compliance gaps of products and services.
- Speak and write fluent English.
It would be a clear plus if you:
- Have prior understanding of maritime rules and regulations.
- Have flair for graphical presentations and overviews.
- Have experience with project management.
